“Her songs could have been written in the 16 - 1700’s,” said banjoist Riley Baugus.

That songwriting style eventually led to Dossett’s latest collaboration, writing music alongside playwright Preston Lane and co-creating original productions for the professional regional theater, Triad Stage.

Their collaborations tell stories of North Carolina’s legendary folklore, from the innovative Appalachian adaptation of “Beowulf,” to the coast’s legendary tales of Blackbeard the pirate.

Since beginning her professional musical career in 1997, Dossett has performed on stages across North Carolina and the southeastern regions—from Merlefest to the NC Symphony.

She can also be found teaching songwriting at various conferences and universities such as the Augusta Heritage Center, and UNCG.
